Catalyzing California’s Defense Manufacturing Modernization Culture

The purpose of this project is to help identify ecosystems among CADENCE priorities and help accelerate statewide manufacturing modernization and innovation ecosystems through engagement kick-off events defense ecosystems of California. These ecosystems will encourage networking and collaborations among organizations and defense companies that can address opportunities for innovation and improvement in each area. This project will include support “organizing” of various ecosystems and introducing use cases, leveraging the Connectory.com defense supplier database and based on the mix of DoD installations/programs, manufacturing sector industries, relevant and active industry/trade associations as well as economic development organizations, and both defense/federal/commercial innovation assets.

CADENCE

The State of California Office of Planning and Research won, through a competitive proposal process, access to a program called California Advanced Defense Ecosystems & National Consortia Effort (CADENCE) under the auspices of the US Department of Defense, Defense Manufacturing Community Support program. Designated by the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition and Sustainment) as a Defense Manufacturing Community, the California Advanced Defense Ecosystems & National Consortia Effort (CADENCE) program will strengthen the resiliency of the national security innovation and manufacturing base through a series of investments in technical assistance, workforce development, research and analysis, and knowledge sharing project components that will: support critical manufacturing sectors that provide key resources to the American warfighter and to commercial innovation; address DoD’s modernization priorities, key policies, guidance and directives; and help maintain the national security manufacturing sector as one of the largest economic drivers in the State of California.
