WHAT IS
CASCADE
The California Advanced Supply Chain Analysis & Diversification Effort (CASCADE) is a statewide collaboration project that is funded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC), and the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research. CASCADE seeks to bolster cybersecurity resilience within the defense supply chain. This project will enhance support to business assistance programs and stimulate the growth and sustainment of its cybersecurity workforce through cybersecurity-related education curricula, training, and apprenticeship programs.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Current Climate
Small defense supply chain companies and all small businesses in general do not take the growing threat of a cyber compromise seriously. They mistakenly believe they are “too small” to be cyber targets and see good cyber awareness and hygiene as a cost center that does not support business growth.
PURPOSE
Cybersecurity Resilience for SBDC and PTAC clients:
The ECEDC has set out to develop mechanisms, toolkits, and internal expertise for small business resources centers, including Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) and Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs). These resources focus around the critical need for cyber security awareness and hygiene.
