sinking moneyWednesday, July 15, 2015-The San Diego Water Authority celebrated two major victories and $188 million dollars in their win in the rate case against the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

A San Francisco Superior Court judge ruled in a tentative decision that the MWD pay the San Diego County Water Authority $188.3 million plus interest for charging illegal water rates from years 2011-2014.

Judge Karnow tentatively rejected all of MWD’s defenses to the Water Authority’s legal challenges, including the dispute that the Water Authority consented to being overcharged by the Los Angeles-based wholesaler. He ruled  the Water Authority was entitled damages of four years overpayments at approximately $188 million, plus interest.

The East County EDC is also pleased to announce that Assistant General Manager of the SD Water Authority, Dennis Cushman will speak on this massive victory at the ECEDC’s Board of Directors meeting on August 19th, 2015.

Congratulations to the San Diego Water Authority on this great win!
