Tax Credits


The California Competes Tax Credit is an income tax credit available to businesses that want to come to California or stay and grow in California. The tax credit is available to both small and large businesses in all industries.


Manufacturing and Research & Development Exemption is an exemption in which manufacturers and certain research and developers may qualify for a partial exemption of sales and use tax on certain manufacturing and research and development equipment purchases and leases.


New Employment Credit is available to companies in designated geographic areas based on income and employment. Furthermore, the business has to have a net increase in employment and hire qualified employees.


Employment Incentives


The Employment Training Panel (ETP) provides funding to employers to aid in upgrading the skills of their workers through training for career development. The ETP is a funding agency.  Thus businesses determine their own training needs and how to provide training. ETP staff is available to assist in applying for funds and other aspects of participation. Click here for additional information about the program.
